The names of 28 Union and 06 Confederate American Civil War veterans buried in Evergreen Cemetery are reported in the History of Leadville and Lake County, Colorado by Don L. Griswold, Jean Harvey Griswold. The names are listed in context of the 1882 [page 980] and 1886 [page 1192] Memorial Day celebration. The names of three Union Soldiers are listed differently [variations of spelling] in the two list.

The specific unit in which 10 of these soldiers served is known from the inscription on their headstone. The service of another three of the Union soldiers is further reported in other articles of the Griswolds' History of Leadville .... To wit,
