Edward D. Moore was mustered into Company I, 51st Illinois Infantry regiment on 22 March 1865 at Camp Butler, Illinois.

While Edward D. Moore was in service, the 51st Illinois Infantry regiment was stationed / operated in: Huntsville, Alabama; Nashville, Tennessee; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Camp Placider, Texas. The battles of armies had ended within 5 weeks of his mustering-in.
