Pvt. David C. Goodrich; Co. C, 5th OHIO Infantry; died 01Jul1882
The headstone was lower 4.5 inches, leveled, and plumbed.Two substantial rocks were encountered just above the desired depth. The headstone was set directly on the leveled rocks [no footing was added]. Due to having initially been set too shallow, the headstone was tilted [ pitched ] forward ~ 7.5 degrees and tilted [ rolled ] to the north ~ 10 degrees. David Goodrich enlisted as a Private and was mustered into Company C, 5th OHIO Infantry on 27Aug1864 on 27Aug1864at 18 years of age. He served more than 14 months in Co. C, 5th OHIO Infantry; 27Aug1864to 02Jun1865. David Goodrich was mustered out on 02Jun1865 at Camp Dennison, OH. While David Goodrich was in service, the 5th OHIO Infantry regiment was engaged in the battle of which had a direct impact on the course of the war and / or a decisive influence on a campaign.
