Died 08 Dec 1895, 70.0 years of age. 'George' Baden is the name of record in both the US NPS Civil War Soldiers and Sailors and the Historic Data System database. John George 'George' Baden enlisted as Corporal at 32 years of age. His residence was given as Polk City, Iowa. He was mustered into Company A, 10th Iowa Infantry regiment on 06 Sept 1861. George Baden served more than 47 month in the 10th Iowa Infantry regiment; 06 Sept 1861 - 15 Aug 1865. While George Baden was in service, the 10th Iowa Infantry regiment was engaged in the following battles which had a direct and decisive influence on a campaign and / or a direct impact on the course of the war: - the regiment made two charges during the assault on Vicksburg 22 May and lost heavily - the regiment was engaged in some of the fiercest fighting at Missionary ridge and lost heavily The 10th Iowa Infantry regiment Sherman's Army of Georgia and Army of The Tennessee participation in the Grand Review, is described as . . . thousands still wore their battered uniforms, stained with Carolina mud, and many still went barefoot.
