Corporal Henry W. Baldwin; Company D, 117th New York Infantry
Henry W. Baldwin enlisted as a Private, at 18 years of age, on 06 August 1862 at Sangerfield, NY. He was mustered into Company 'D' of the New York 117th Infantry Regiment on 13 August 1862. He served 34 months in the 117th New York Infantry, 13 August 1862 to 08 June 1865. While Henry W. Baldwin was in service, the 117th N.Y. Infantry regiment was engaged in the following battles that had a direct impact on the course of the war and / or a decisive influence on a campaign: The 117th NY Infantry regiment was present at the surrender of of Johnston and his army at Bennett's House, Raleigh Station, 26 April 1865.
