Sgt. Frederick Crome; Company B, 1st Minnesota Cavalry
Frederick Crome enlisted as a Corporal, at 24 years of age, on 20 May 1861 at Washington County, Minn. He was mustered into Company 'B' of the Minnesota 1st Cavalry Regiment on 20 May 1861. He served 37 months in the 1st Minnesota Cavalry, 20 May 1861 to 02 July 1864. While Frederick Crome was in service, the 1st Minnesota Cavalry regiment was engaged in the following battles that had a direct impact on the course of the war and / or a decisive influence on a campaign: The 1st MINN CAV regiment sustained heavy losses at the battle of Bull Run_I, Va., and Antietam, Md; 180 and 147 causalities, respectively The 1st MINN CAV regiment was sent to New York City in August 1862 to assist in quelling the draft riots.
