2nd Lieut. Charles Greiner, Company 'A', 20th NY INF
Charles Greiner enlisted as a Corporal, at 23 years of age, on 03 May 1861 at New York City, New York. He was mustered into Company 'A' of the New York 20th Infantry Regiment on 06 May 1861. He served more than 24 months in the 20th New York Infantry, 03 May 1861 to 01 June 1863. While Charles Greiner was in service, the 20th New York Infantry regiment was engaged in the following battles that had a direct impact on the course of the war and / or a decisive influence on a campaign: The 20th New York Infantry regiment participated in the infamous Burnside "Mud March"; 20-24 January 1863. Charles Greiner was promoted to Charles Greiner was listed as wounded 04 May 1863 at Fredericksburg, Va. Charles Greiner was mustered out on 01 June 1863 at New York City, New York. James W. Giltner, Charles Greiner, and Elzeor [Joseph] LaFontaine were intially buried in the Kokomo cemetery. They were among the 146 bodies moved from the Kokomo Cemetery between August and November 1966.
