1st Sergeant Charles E. Hardy, 9th Indiana Infantry

Charles E. Hardy enlisted as a Private on 05 Sept 1861; his residence was given as South Bend IND.
He was mustered into Company 'I' of the Indiana 9th Infantry Regiment 05 Sept 1861. He served more than 48 months in the 9th Indiana Infantry, 05 Sept 1861 to 28 Sept 1865.

    After the surrender of the CSA armies, the 9th IND INF was sent to Louisiana [June 1865] and Texas [July-Sept 1865], as part of Sheridan's army of occupation.

    Charles E. Hardy was mustered out on 28 September 1865.

    The CVGR reports Charles E. Hardy death date as 19 Mar 1910.
