August Jaugher enlisted as a Private on 05 January 1864; his residence was given as Chicago, Ill.
He was mustered into Battery 'L' of the Illinois 2nd Light Artillery Regiment on 31 Jan 1864.
He served more than 18 months in the 2nd Illinois Light Artillery; 31 Jan 1864 to 09 Aug 1865.

While August Jaugher was in service, the 2nd Illinois Light Artillery regiment was assigned to the defenses of Vicksburg, Miss., 04 July 1863 until Aug 1865.

August Jaugher was promoted to Bugler; date not given.

August Jaugher was mustered out on 09 Aug 1865.
