Salem Pioneer Cemetery American Civil War
Veterans Roster
Ninety-six [96] American Civil War veterans are reported to be interred in Salem Pioneer Cemetery, Salem, Oregon, USA. The service of seventy-five [76] soldier has been vetted; ie, the regimental service of these soliders has been validated against the HDS, Inc., American Civil War Research Database, and the soldiers' year of birth, nativity, and residence during the American Civil War [if known] are consistent. Three US [Union] Navy sailors are documented. However, there is no comprehensive service database available to validate Civil War US [Union] Navy service. Their service reported in the Salem Pioneer Cemetery records is accepted. Another 17 interred men are reported to be Civil War veterans in the cemetery record; however, not enough information is provided to identifiy and / or verify their service. A list these names will be included on a separate webpage as time permits. An attempt with be made, in future, to establish the service of these reported veterans. A roster of the 'vetted' Salem Pioneer Cemetery American Civil War soldiers and the three sailor is tabulated below. The Resources from which this information was derived is detailed below the roster. |
