Aaron F. Ogden
Pvt. Aaron F. Ogden; Co. G, 1st Iowa Cavalry; died 07AUG1879, ~38.5 years of age
Raised 09 inches, set on 10 x 12 x 2 inch dimensioned stone footing, leveled, and plumbed.

The bottom of this headstone features an unusual scallop cut.

Aaron F. Ogden enlisted as a Private on 25Feb1864 at 22 years of age. AFO served more than 15 month in the IOWA 1 CAV; 25Feb1864 to 29May1865.

While Aaron F. Odgen was in service, the 1st IOWA CAV regiment was engaged in the battle of Prairie D'Anna, AR, 09-12April 1864, which had a direct and decisive influence on the Camden Expedition [1864].

Additionally, the 1st IOWA CAV regiment was engaged in the following battles which had an observable influence on the outcome of a campaign
  • Elkin's Ferry, Little Missouri River, AR, 03-04April1864
  • Jenkins' Ferry, Saline River, AR, 30April1864
  • Marais des Cygnes, Osage River, KS, 25Oct1864
    while Aaron F. Odgen was in service.

    Aaron F. Ogden was mustered out at 29May1865 at Little Rock, AR.
