    During the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Regiment was engage in assaults on 19 May, 22 June, and 25 June including the assault call the "slaughter pen". The Regiment was ordered into the crater formed by the mine explosion, two companies at a time for half an hour, all day of 26 Jun 1863; lost 49 men were killed and wounded.
